Finn Juhl Chieftain Chair Style - DC233

Finn Juhl's Chieftain chair counts to the icons of modern design. The Chieftain Chair informally received its name when Danish King Frederik IX sat in the display model at the 1949 Cabinetmaker's Guild in Copenhagen. The chair was influenced by African tribal art (as several of Juhl's designs were). The Chair has been manufactured ba various Danish cabinetmakers throughout the years. During a short period in the 1950's, Baker Furniture in the U.S. purchased the rights to this design and had a limited run during this time period.
